26 Things You Don’t Know About Me (Yet)

At this point, you probably just know me as the mom behind Mom Succeeds. But, now that we are interacting online, I would like to share with you more than twenty things you don’t know about me. At least, not yet.

The idea of creating this all about me page came when I read a post from a member of a Facebook Group that I am in. She shared things about herself on an A-Z post and I absolutely loved the idea.

So, here we go…

Omg, so many things that you didn't know...but now, they are all exposed! #aboutme #blogger #itsallaboutme #momlife #secrets

26 Things About Me: From A to Z

A is for Accounting

When I was a kid, I loved playing with calculators and math was always my favorite subject at school. Because of that, my family and I were completely sure that I would obtain a degree in Accounting.

After all, I got extremely frustrated with the basic forms and ended up graduating with a major in Human Resources Management instead. But, I absolutely loved HR!

B is for Books

I love books (and the smell of new books too! 😀 ) I normally read non-fiction books related to business, self-improvement, and personal finance.

C is for Children Movies

To this day, I still prefer children movies over any other type of movie. I feel that once we grow up, we focus too much on other things and we tend to forget about what’s really important in life.

That’s why I look at children’s movies as a living reminder. So far, my favorite movie is Rise of The Guardians because it reminds us of how important it is to believe.

D is for Disney Cruises

If I could, I would be living on a Disney Cruise. I love everything about them! They are beautiful, convenient, and fun for the whole family.

I have enjoyed them so much that I put together quick Disney Cruise tips to help you maximize your time.

E is for Eating at Food Trucks

Most of the time, I prefer quick, practical, and informal things in life. Eating at a food truck is one of them. I like getting the food and just eating it outside in the park, plaza, or lake.

F is for Family

My family has always been very important to me. Because of that, I was always off on my oldest daughter’s first days of school. Being with her on those days was something that I never wanted to miss. As well as her other school activities, concerts, and events.

G is for Green and Blue

When you look at MomSucceeds.com, it’s kind of hard to tell that green and blue are my favorite colors. That’s because when I think of a cute combination of colors, I prefer the pink, black, and white together.

H is for Human Resources

Once my balance sheets were out of balance (see “A for Accounting”), I knew that I needed to choose another career…and fast! (haha) And Human Resources was a perfect choice since I like to:

  • Work with numbers (payroll)
  • Solve problems (employee relations)
  • Help people (customer service)
  • Teach people (training, meetings, coaching, orientations)
  • Learn about laws (state and federal laws and regulations and company policies)
  • Administrative work (lots of documentation and paperwork including employee files, tuition reimbursement, new hire paperwork, and much more!)

And, I loved helping companies create a positive work environment and motivating employees.

I is for INTJ

In case that you are not familiar with it, the letters INTJ are a combination of Introversion + Intuition + Thinking + Judging. The INTJ is only one of the 16 personality types included on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator a tool that helps you figure out your personality type based on your favorite world, basic information, decision-making process, and different structures.

According to Myers-Briggs, some of the characteristics of INTJ are imaginative, decisive, ambitious, private, and very curious. The interesting part about being an INTJ is that we are only 2% of the population. And, only .8% are women! Hopefully, that’s a good thing. :/

J is for Jeans

Since I like things to be practical, jeans have always been my favorite type of clothing. I like them because they match with everything. When I was in high school, jeans were part of my uniform. Imagine! I could wear jeans for school every single day. 🙌

While working in Corporate America, I was mostly able to wear jeans on Fridays. But, at my last job, I could do it more frequently than that even though I was still working in the HR department.

In addition to my regular jeans, I have a denim purse, shoes, casual dress, and a jacket. And, I even get denim skirts, dresses, and jackets for my daughters too 😀

K is for Kinesthetic

When I was working in Corporate America, I preferred hands-on training. That’s probably because I like to learn by touching as well as through visual materials.

L is for Libra

Yes, I’m a Libra. That may be a reason why I like to share ways to balance your personal and professional life. Even the tagline for Mom Succeeds is “helping busy moms create a balanced lifestyle”.

M is for Magazines

I like to subscribe to Magazines. One of my favorite magazines was All You which unfortunately stopped printing a few years ago. However, I still enjoy reading other magazines covering women’s life, home, business, and money. Because of that, you’re probably not surprised that those are the topics that I like to cover here at Mom Succeeds.

N is for Notebooks

Well, to be honest, I love office supplies in general. But, my major weaknesses are planners and notebooks! Since I like to keep my notes organized, I have found the notebooks to be great for that.

I pretty much use notebooks for everything. And after starting working online, I use them even more! Right now, I have one for completed training, books read, daily quick notes, blogging world, and gratitude.

O is for October

Since October is the month when I was born, my birthday cakes have usually had Halloween decoration on it 😊. But not just that. To complete the tradition, my oldest daughter was born the day after Halloween! Because of that, many times we chose Halloween treats to give to her friends at school.

P is for Puerto Rico

I was born and raised in Puerto Rico and moved to the United States after graduating from College. Even though most of my family members were already here in the USA, they were living in different states. Because of that, I moved by myself.

The transition was easy except for the weather. Since Puerto Rico is a tropical island, I still get frozen when the temperature falls under the 70 degrees!

Even though I am from Puerto Rico, my favorite food is not rice, beans, and chicken like many people think. I actually love pizza! Especially, the extra cheese or bacon cheese pizza.

Omg, so many things that you didn't know...but now, they are all exposed! #aboutme #blogger #itsallaboutme #momlife #secrets

Q is for Quote

I like inspirational and motivational quotes. But, my favorite quote is from Albert Einstein that says:

“Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results”. I just can’t agree more with that quote.

I am a firm believer in having processes in place to manage different areas of our lives. If the process that we have in place is not helping us achieve what we want, then it’s time to adjust it. That’s why I created a free productivity guide as well as a 7-day email goal-setting challenge.

R is for Road Trips

During my childhood, I used to go with my family on road trips throughout the island. And it’s something that I still like doing.

It’s interesting because I like to plan my days ahead of time but, I don’t mind packing something fast, jumping into the car, and going somewhere.

S is for Spanish

Spanish is my first language even though English classes are still taught at schools in Puerto Rico. People normally say that we (Puerto Ricans) speak very fast. However, when I get nervous, somehow, I manage to speak even faster!

S is also for the Shop. If you don’t know yet, I opened the Mom Succeeds Shop. As always its focus is on planning, home management, and self-improvement. It’s an online shop with different types of printables such as trackers, lists, planners, and more!

T is for Texas

When I came from Puerto Rico more than 15 years ago, I moved directly to Texas. And, I am glad I did because I love everything about this state! Of course, I like everything except for the tornadoes and my seasonal allergies ☹.

U is for USA’s national symbol

The bald eagle is my favorite animal! Because of that, I have a huge picture frame similar to this print in my home office. That’s in addition to the figurines that I have around like this one.

V is for Vocal Cords

Several years ago, I lost my voice without explanation. Apparently, it was a combination of different factors in my life including my job.

For a long period of time, I went through different treatments including speech therapy and an injection directly to one of my vocal cords.

The entire situation was frustrating and scary since I couldn’t communicate with my kids as we were used to. Fortunately, my voice has sloooowly come back to normal.

W is for Workaholic

I can blame my Type A Personality on this one, but I am very driven and usually don’t want to stop until I complete the task or project. That’s why I like to use checklists, planners, and trackers.

Unfortunately, pushing myself too much (and being perfectionist) usually puts me under too much stress. Something that I am working on.

Y is for Yoga + Meditation

I neglected doing yoga for a long time. I didn’t get the point of taking some time to relax when I had many other things to do. Just thinking about it was giving me more stress.

It was until I read this book that I decided to try yoga and combine it with a few minutes of guided meditation.

If you are like me, try it because it really works! Even my toddler enjoys doing yoga and is excited to practice it at school too.

Z is for Zoos

Like many of you, I like visiting zoos. That’s one of the first things that I did after moving to this area.

Whenever you come to Texas, I recommend you visit my favorite zoo, the Fossil Rim Wildlife Center where you can drive your own vehicle throughout the zoo for a real wildlife experience.

It’s a beautiful opportunity to be close to the animals and even feed the giraffes directly from your hand.

And that’s all about me

Hopefully, the list has helped you know more of who I am. Now, I would love to learn more about you!

Can you relate to any of the things that I mentioned? Which one surprised you? Let me know in the comments section.

Enjoyed it? Please pin it for later and share it with friends!
